Cookies & Camp
Hi. My name is John and I’m a chocoholic.
There, I’ve said it and I feel better, not that it was a well kept secret. It’s difficult to find anything as satisfying as a warm and gooey chocolate chip filled cookie. The smell, the taste are such great rewards, no matter how you feel, you are sure to feel even better.
Camp is a whole lot like a really good chocolate chip cookie. There’s the anticipation of meeting new friends, who your counselor is going to be and wondering whether this is the year you make it to the top of The Wall. Then there are the activities, these are the chocolate chips, each one offering a chance to grow, learn and affirm in knowledge and skills. The cookie dough is like the staff, they make camp – camp. Without the great staff you would have just a bunch of random activities or just a handful of melted chips. The staff show the way, laugh, play, guide and share their faith. Most importantly, they listen. Camp is just about as good as a basketful of warm cookies with a glass of cold milk. Just about!
