Our Message

Westview's Mission

“We love church camp and retreats because we always feel welcomed and accepted there. The focus on God and loving one another makes us more aware of our actions and how meaningful it is to 'do good' and 'avoid harm.' It’s good to be with other kids who are just as interested in that as we are. Worship, prayer, and practicing faith are exciting and fun… It is great how you come not knowing very many people and go home having so many friends…it happens every time. Camp helps us be more caring people when we come home. Camp is awesome.”

Westview’s mission is simple: to provide “a place apart” for Christian hospitality and learning that helps people of all ages affirm and grow in their faith as they experience the wonder of God’s creation.

Why a place apart? It allows us to receive through letting go, to move closer by being still, to hear the Divine Word in silence and to discover ways to be more present at home by taking time away. Jesus modeled this often taking time for prayer and renewal in a setting apart from others.

What is Christian hospitality? It is the desire to serve the needs of others before your own needs. Being a good host means making everyone feel welcome and helping them to become familiar with their surroundings. Good food and fellowship and a willingness to help where needed to provide an environment conducive to learning.

What kind of learning? The Bible and the teaching’s of Christ and how to put into practice in your daily life this knowledge. Learning may also include how to become leaders in the church, how to relax and hear the will of God. The opportunities for growth and learning are limitless.

Why the outdoors? “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters” Psalm 24:1-2 You can find peace and tranquility under the sky, among the trees and the sounds of water tumbling in a stream.
